Chemical Peels Q & A

What happens during a chemical peel?

Both the Epionce and The Perfect Derma Peel line of chemical peels combine highly effective acids and other powerful ingredients to restore healthier, more youthful skin. After your skin is thoroughly cleansed, a layer of the chemical peel solution is applied.

You instantly feel a bit of tingling, which only lasts for about 60 seconds. After the solution passes through the initial layer of your skin, numbing takes place, and you won’t feel any discomfort as the chemicals go to work.

The clinical-grade ingredients in Epionce and The Perfect Derma Peel solutions remove the outer damaged layer of your skin and encourage skin shedding. After your skin heals, depending on your type of peel, your skin is going to appear more vibrant and youthful.

What can chemical peels treat?

Chemical peels are ideal for resolving issues on your face, neck, and décolleté, but Frances can also apply Epionce or The Perfect Derma Peel solutions to other areas of your body. These highly effective chemical peels are ideal for treating and minimizing the appearance of:

  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Scarring, including acne scars
  • Age spots and brown spots
  • Sun damage and melasma
  • Enlarged pores

Your personalized Epionce or The Perfect Derma Peel chemical peel session at Lustre Med Spa can even stimulate collagen and elastin production, so you have healthier, firmer skin.

How long is the recovery after a chemical peel?

Frances offers both the Epionce and The Perfect Derma Peel treatments to give you plenty of options for improving your skin in the shortest time frame possible. The Epionce peels are superficial 10-minute “lunchtime peels” that don’t require any downtime. You can return right back to your regular activities afterward.

The Perfect Derma Peel chemical peels are medium-grade and require a short recovery period. Your skin should start sloughing off by day three. It’s common to experience this skin shedding for several days while your skin heals, which takes about a week.

No matter which type of chemical peel you have at Lustre Med Spa, Frances always encourages you to apply plenty of sunscreen afterward to prevent a sunburn. You can even purchase sunscreen and skin care products right in the lobby.
